Local dog owners can enjoy two sessions of training. On the first session the handler will be taught how to walk a dog to heel correctly, and once mastered, we will then move on to another very important area. You will be taught how to take control of your home.
Once you have practiced the new regime for approximately two weeks, you will return to complete the tuition where we will teach the dog recall.
For non local dog owners we are able to arrange accommodation for the owner with their dog in our locality. Unfortunately, we will no longer recommend or carry out dog only residential training. We have had success with this in the past; however, it is not the best option, and too many dog owners need to understand how to control their dogs; therefore, we are concentrating on training the owner with the dog over a period of one week.
As with all training, it should be fun, and we want to suggest you make the training part of your holiday. We have no need to hard train; we offer a well-proven system that, when followed without “cherry-picking”, helps the dog remain calm, attentive and concentrating on you as the handler.

After our second visit today, I have just been out with Spud to try some follow up training... I have a magician dog... He was perfect at recall, and I threw a stick to hunt for a reward... The stick, however, was non-retrievable, so Spud improvised by bringing me an empty cake box.
All went well until the last 5 minutes when he took off after a scent in the woods... Once he returned, he walked home well... Thank you for all the tips to train me as well as Spud.
He's not bad for months, and pleased I got the training now while he is young enough to mound into a cracking dog...
Our 2-year-old working cocker was mental. Pulling in the lead, barking at people, barking in the house and just generally being a round pain. Since our stay with Mick and Mandy, this has all stopped, she has a new routine, and our house is a happier place with my stress levels back within the average human levels! She is back to her normal weight and is happier for it.
She now knows her place in the house, no more excessive treats or ruling the roost for her. The cottage is great too, and Mick and Mandy were fantastic hosts. Thank you for having us and for all of your help. Danny, Lucy and the new and improved Emily! X
I’ve been concerned about why my dog, a 4-year-old GSD, was being so reactive towards other dogs. Going for walks has been a minefield, with me having to hold on for dear life whenever another dog came into view. Although we are still a Work In Progress, I can’t thank Mick enough for two very enlightening sessions.
And of course, the answer is rarely to do with training the dog - it is training the human how to be the sort of owner the dog needs and deserves! Sensible and practical advice backed up by Mick’s practical experience. Such an amazing transformation by, to coin a phrase, “taking back control.” Still, a long way to go as I put the theory into practice at home; however, such a change in how my dog reacted to Mick’s own dogs - and how much happier he appeared!
Having been involved with gun dog breeds for more than 35 years, I am now able to use the experience I have gained to offer and provide professional, reward-based dog training without the use of food treats. Positive reinforcement is not all about food treats!
Not only am I happy to help owners with obedience training, I also have vast experience dealing with various behavioural problems, including dogs that have Court orders.
