Our training areas

Homepage > Our training areas

The Heather wood

A lovely area which we use in the latter stages of a trainees time with us. There are occasionally wild pheasants in this area, which allow the dogs to try out their new found hunting skills.

The Ferned wood

This is probably our most regularly used training area, we find it very secluded without having too many interuptions or distractions allowing a good training session with the dogs. All scenarios can be catered for here as the vegetation is not too thick allowing the handler to keep in touch with the dog at all times. The wildlife in this area is in abundance and the dogs have lots of different scents to explore.

The Loch

We DO NOT use this area during the breeding season, to allow the various species of waterfowl the chance to nest in peace. We have alternative areas which we use in Spring, these alternative areas are not so heavily populated with duck etc. However during all other seasons this area is superb to to allow young trainees the chance to experiment in the water. Due to the large volume of dog walkers who use this area the ducks have become very astute at avoiding the inquisitive spaniel, but the scent in the area gives the dog good experience in hunting along the reeds and surrounding grass fields.

 The Fields

The farmers in this area are excellent at growing a multitude of crops, which we take full advantage of, allowing us to recreate many training scenes during all seasons. We have access to hundreds of acres of well cultivated fields allowing the dogs to experience hunting in. This particular scene below is a grass field where rabbits are in abundance. Excellent for steadying young dogs.

Excercise areas

Its not all "training" when your dog arrives for a residential training course. We have our own dogs to excercise so any lodgers come with us too. The dogs enjoy trips to various other areas which include the beaches and lochs, to run about having fun safely and under supervision. This also helps young pups beat travel sickness, as we use the jeep to transport them to these other local areas.
